Throwback Thursday : The Tower That Sparkled

Throwback Thursday is a weekly feature here on Random Thoughts Of A Twenty Something. It is said that a picture can paint a thousand words and I wanted a way of looking back and reflecting on my past whether it be recent or from years gone by. There’s something quite intimate and revealing about sharing photographs from our lives and I’m always intrigued about the story behind the lens.
Last week I talked about my feelings about turning 18 whilst pregnant with my second child. It was prompted by my announcement of my current pregnancy and it seems that the start of May for the second year running has been incredibly exciting! At the start of May last year my partner and I were able to visit Paris for a long weekend; our first holiday abroad! It took a long time for us to be able to visit so when we did we knew we wanted it to be extra special despite needing to do things on a budget.

And this was the view from outside the front of our hotel – the Eiffel Tower all lit up at night during it’s hourly light show.

Being able to tick off something on our couples bucket list was absolutely amazing. There are very few times when I am lost for words and during this particular light show I truly was. The show only lasts for five minutes every hour once the sun has gone down till around 1am however the sun didn’t go down until just before 9pm so we only had a few chances to catch it.

The night prior we had taken a wander up the road to be in the grounds of the tower for the first light show on the evening and it really was incredible to watch and the atmosphere with everyone waitng and then watching was really amazing. On this evening however we had already retired to our hotel room and managed to catch one light show from the window of our room; we really did have fantastic views. We decided that as it was our last evening in Paris we needed to go downstairs and outside to view one more light show before trying to sleep. The air was still warm and the lights glittered brightly. It was so magical to just stand there and take 5 minutes out of our busy weekend to just enjoy the night.
What do you think of my photograph? Don’t forget to check back next Thursday to see what image I have chosen to share with you!

  1. Paris is such a beautiful city. We’ve not yet been as a couple yet, but it’s something we’d like to do next year. You had such a beautiful view from your hotel room!
