Throwback Thursday is a weekly feature here on Random Thoughts Of A Twenty Something. It is said that a picture can paint a thousand words and I wanted a way of looking back and reflecting on my past whether it be recent or from years gone by. There’s something quite intimate and revealing about sharing photographs from our lives and I’m always intrigued about the story behind the lens.
I haven’t been able to post for a few weeks but the last Throwback Thursday feature was an image of my daughter and I after a very long day. It’s amazing how quickly children can lift out spirits and this weeks image definitely makes me smile.
This image of Elliot, Nevaeh and Corey was taken last summer before attending my aunts wedding and all the children had wanted to dress in a similar colour so that they were matching – even though they were not pageboys and a bridesmaid.
A few days prior we had taken them shopping to look for smart outfits suitable for the occasion and both boys had wanted the blue and white checked shirts that they had spotted as soon as we had entered the shop so that they would look smart whilst standing together. Not one to ever be left out Nevaeh decided that she must then have a navy dress so that she was wearing the same colour which resulted in us then trawling the entire department store in the hope we would manage to find a dark navy dress is the height of summer!
On the day of the wedding Elliot decided that his buttoned shirt did not suffice as smart enough and wanted to add a tie to his outfit something he is not short of and of course being the adoring younger step brother that he is Corey wanted to copy Elliot and opted for one of his bow ties.
There’s something about this photograph that makes me extremely proud of these children. Over the years they have formed an incredible bond as if there was no biological difference in their parentage. Having grown up together since they were very young and with their matching blue eyes and blond hair they are very regularly mistaken as full blood siblings and whilst myself and my partner will correct people the children never blink an eye and always have each others backs!
What do you think of my photograph? Don’t forget to check back next Thursday to see what image I have chosen to share with you!
