Throwback Thursday is a weekly feature here on Random Thoughts Of A Twenty Something. It is said that a picture can paint a thousand words and I wanted a way of looking back and reflecting on my past whether it be recent or from years gone by. There’s something quite intimate and revealing about sharing photographs from our lives and I’m always intrigued about the story behind the lens.
Last week I shared with you a photograph of views from the dizzy heights on Blackpool Tower.
Now this weeks image of the three children and my partner is probably one of my utmost favourite photograph to date of the four of them. It was taken back in the summer of 2015 just after my partner took part and completed in a Spartan Race and then promptly went around the juniors course straight away with our three little ones!
Obstacle courses and fun runs have become quite the popular past time for my partner over the past few years with this year seeing him complete the Fan Dance Challenge – a 24km SAS Selection march staged across the highest mountain in the Brecon Beacons in Wales in under 5 hours whilst raising over £1K for Bipolar UK. So it is no great surprise that our little explorers want to follow in their fathers/guardians footsteps when it comes to taking part in obstacle races so we were so pleased to be able to tell them that they would be able to take part in a mini course and their faces post race in this image really shows just how much enthusiasm they had on the day and quite how pleased with themselves they were!
I remember feeling exhausted just thinking about the notion of my partner having just taken part in a 10KM Spartan course and barely stopping for breath before joining the children at the start line of their race just as the klaxon sounded. I feel immense pride when I think back to that day knowing how hard my partner had to work just to make our children happy- a quality in which I absolutely adore him for! The medals that the children are clutching onto are still cherished and take pride of place in their bedrooms with my partners medal rack slowly becoming overflowing!
What do you think of my photograph? Don’t forget to check back next Thursday to see what image I have chosen to share with you!
